In the Spring of 2021, South Carolina passed a law that allows executions to continue after a nearly 10 year hiatus, and tried to set two execution dates, which have been put off by a court order.

This new law accommodates the fact the South Carolina is no longer able to acquire lethal injection drugs, thus will force death row prisoners to chose between the electric chair and the firing squad for their execution.
